FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!

I had one of the greatest weekends ever!!

It started with a very happy husband on Friday night because of the 2010 soccer draw.  Both England and Germany will play in Port Elizabeth, along with a few other teams that he seems quite pleased about.

On Saturday I met up with some of the girls from my Ante Natal class for tea, it was nice to chat to them.  Then on Saturday night my sister, husband and I went to Cape Town Fish Market for dinner.  It was GREAT!!! So different from the meal we had on Thursday night at another fish (if you could call it that) place – which was so bad it’s name does not even deserve a mention.  The 3 of us just chatted and ate and chatted and ate some more.  It was awesome and so nice to get to spend time with my sister.

On Sunday my sister and I met for breakfast and then she arranged a farewell braai at my mom’s house.  Or at least that was what I was led to believe.  It ended up being my stork party and I was spoilt rotten!  Thanks to everyone who came and to my sister and mom for arranging.  It was a true surprise!!!  My sister and I then spent the rest of the evening together before going to visit a friend of ours.

Unfortunately my sister leaves again today for the UK.  I can’t believe how quickly this time has flown.  It was so nice to have her here and I am going to miss her terribly again. At least she is back in April – and I will be on Maternity leave so should get to spend some time with her.  She plans on doing Ironman South Africa again then.  It will be her 4th time!!!

And yet again….

CUT!!! Please..........

CUT!!! Please..........

So it turns out that blushing seems to be becoming a habit of late!!!

On Monday night it was our first Antenatal class that the guys also attended.  The previous Monday the lady that takes the course had said that there were 3 girls that were not able to make it that night but would be there the following week.

I had made sure that Mr OL and I were not late, so we were seated when most of the others arrived (ok, when all of the others arrived – we got there first and yes, I was not popular…… sorry Mr OL).

The girl that sat down next to me I knew pretty well.  My mom and hers are very good friends.  She also attends the same yoga class that I go to on a Tuesday night.  As the people were walking in we were just watching them when I felt that horrible feeling of heat rising and knew that I was going BLOOD RED!  Who should walk in but one of my ex boyfriends?  I have had two long term relationships before Mr OL and one of them just walked into my antenatal class with his wife!!!  Yikes – talk about embarrassing.  Luckily I had time for the colour to leave my face before he saw me.  Then he turned blood red.  Hee hee hee!

Luckily we had not parted on bad terms and it was about 4 years ago, so not too bad.  It was just a surprise and not exactly who I would want around if I had personal questions to ask.  I am sure from their side they felt exactly the same way.  It would also have been nice to know that his wife was pregnant before I saw them there.  Not that I suppose it matters either way.  It is odd though that nobody mentioned it as I am still friends with his brother and wife and they had not said anything to either of us.

Then last night at the yoga the other girl and I were talking about it, and laughing. We told the yoga instructor what had happened and we were all joking around and saying that it was like something you saw in bad movies.  Two minutes later the new girl arrived and who should she be – yip, you guessed it.  My ex boyfriend’s wife!  It was all I could do not to laugh.  The yoga instructor realized straight way by my face that this was who we had just been talking about…..  I don’t know how we all managed to keep straight faces.  The movie just went from bad to comedic…..

I do think it could have been a lot worse though, like if we had not parted well, or he had left me for her or something like that.  Then it could have been very awkward.  As it was the class was very nice and we all got along well.

A happy ending!

Last nights antenatal classes were ok.  I think that with the modern age of Google, magazines and stuff we know way more than people used to. There was not much said that I did not already know.  But it was nice to meet other people and I am sure as the classes progress it will teach me something, especially the more practical stuff.  With that I have NO idea!

What happened after the class was a lot more interesting!  I was driving along when this dog wondered out in front of me.  Luckily I managed to break and avoid it.  I thought it was a Border Collie type dog as it had that colouring but looked a bit on the heavy side.  The car behind me also managed to avoid it.  I drove along for a bit, then did a U-turn to see if I could go and find it.  It was wondering along the side of the road, so I pulled over, opened my car door.  It wondered over to me and put both its front paws on the chair of my car and looked at me.  Uhmm, get in you lazy lump.  Nope it was not budging.  I had to heave the dog into my car.  I am always a bit nervous about grabbing stray dogs or picking them up but he seemed friendly enough.  He was really cute and looked like a Bearded Collie from up close – with whiskers!

But, now what do I do.  I have two dogs and two cats at home – none of which like stray or strange animals and it is 10 o’ clock at night!  Luckily the dog had a collar on with an Animal Welfare tag.  I took the dog home and put it in my garage and called their emergency number.  They were able to give me the owners contact details so I phoned them. They were overjoyed and came round right away to come and pick him up.  They were an elderly couple who had, had workmen at their home earlier that afternoon and think the dog must have slipped out then.  They all seemed very happy to be reunited.  I asked and he was a Bearded Collie - his name was Laddie.

I hope if my dogs or cats every go missing that somebody finds them and is able to get them back to me too.

Laddie was a bit older and scragglier than this one, but just as cute and smiley looking with a very waggy tail.
